The collection is one handwritten article, dated April 15, 1841, entitled "Address to Youths" by John Mc. D. Berry. It was submitted to Elihu Stout for publication in the Western Sun. In the address, Berry admonishes young people to attend to their conduct and to read useful books. Berry encourages the young readers to become "learned and virtuous" for their own welfare and happiness.

Elihu Stout (1786-1860) was a printer and publisher in Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana. He published Indiana's first newspaper, the "Indiana Gazette" from 1894 to 1806, and the "Western Sun" from 1807 to 1845. John Francis Bayard (1786-1853) was an officer in the French army under Napoleon, and a Vincennes businessman. Henry S.
